Hyein (she/they) is a computational biologist serving in an integral role within the Huangfu lab. She completed her Ph.D. at Weill Cornell Medicine in 2019, specializing in systems biology.
During her doctoral studies, under the guidance of Dr. Christina Leslie, Hyein focused on sequence-based motif analysis of chromatin accessibility and binding patterns of pioneer transcription factors, particularly in the context of stem cell development.
Currently, Hyein contributes her expertise to the MSK MorPhiC (Molecular Phenotypes of Null Alleles in Cells) grant. Her responsibilities encompass the management and analysis of large-scale perturbation and demultiplexing experiments.
Beyond her scientific contributions, Dr. Cho continues to pave the way as a pioneer, openly transgender scientist. In her leisure time, she finds joy in activities such as cycling and endurance running. Additionally, she possesses a strong passion for electronic music, coffee, and taking nighttime strolls.
