In preparation for the official opening of the Tan Lab, this laboratory in the Rockefeller Research Laboratories underwent a gut renovation starting in December 2002. Everything but the fumehoods was replaced with brand new construction, including countertops, sinks, casework, desks, filing cabinets, and outlets. A new fire-rated wall was also built at the back of the lab to divide the old 14-bench lab into an 8-bench module to accommodate NYC fire codes. The new lab opened for business in March 2003, embarking on the group’s chemical biology research in diversity-oriented synthesis and rational drug design!
