Dr. Michel Sadelain, Director of the Center for Cell Engineering, receives the Pasteur Weizmann/Servier Prize at the Academy of Sciences in Paris on October 16, 2018.
Michel Sadelain, MD, PhD, Director of the Center for Cell Engineering at MSK, has been awarded the Pasteur-Weizmann/Servier International Prize. Dr. Sadelain was chosen in recognition of his pivotal research demonstrating the therapeutic potential of engineered T cells. Dr. Sadelain will accept the 2018 Pasteur-Weizmann Prize at a ceremony held at the French Academy of Sciences in Paris, France on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
“I am honored to receive this award and I look forward to expanding my research on T cell engineering and the clinical development of chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) therapy,” Dr. Sadelain says.
The Pasteur-Weizmann/Servier International Prize was established in 2003 by three scientific research centers: L’Institut Servier, the Institut Pasteur, and the Weizmann Institute of Sciences. Given every three years, the award is conferred upon a biomedical researcher and his or her team for a major contribution leading to therapeutic application. This year’s prize focused on the field of immuno-regulation and cancer. Awardees receive up to 250,000 euros to support their work.
