Current research shows that the intestinal microbial composition has an important influence in graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). In line with this, recent findings from our lab indicate that treatment with particular antibiotics that target the gut flora may further exacerbate this disease. My research focuses on the development of different therapeutic strategies to prevent dysbiosis and recover the gut microbiota in order to reduce intestinal damage and GvHD after transplant.
