I studied chemical engineering as an undergraduate, and I quickly became passionate about applying the fundamentals of engineering to solve biological problems. Now I study the mechanical properties of cell-to-cell interactions in the immune system. I am especially interested in how cytotoxic T cells exert force to potentiate the killing of such targets as cancer cells.
I chose to pursue my graduate studies at Gerstner Sloan Kettering because of its unique first-year curriculum. The rotation format allowed me to completely focus on the coursework and rotations separately, making each much more valuable. I hope to apply the skills I learn here to pursue a career in scientific research, whether in academia or biotechnology.
