Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences
PhD Candidate, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB) Allied Program
2004-2007
Universita degli Studi di Perugia, Italy
BSc in Biotechnology
Research Interests
Neural stem cells (NSC) persist in two distinct regions of the adult mammalian forebrain - the subependymal zone (SEZ) lining the lateral ventricles, and the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the hippocampus. Previous work in the Joyner lab has revealed that the secreted factor Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signals to adult NSC in both regions. My interest is to understand the specific function of multiple components of the Shh signaling pathway in regulating the proliferation and specification of normal adult neural stem cells.
