Malcom A. S. Moore has received The Hope Funds Award for Clinical Development for his contribution to the development of blood cell growth stimulatory factors.
The Hope Funds for Cancer Research, a new organization dedicated to advancing innovative research for the most difficult to treat cancers, announced its 2008 Award of Excellence recipients on May 28.
Immunologist Morgan Huse of Sloan-Kettering Institute has been named one of 15 2008 Searle Scholars. He was selected from among 176 applicants, nominated from more than 120 universities and research institutions for his work focused on quantitative analysis of lymphoctye signaling dynamics. Award recipients from the chemical and biological sciences were awarded $300,000 each to support their research programs over the next three years. The final selections, made by a 12-member Scientific Advisory Board, were based on the scientists' demonstrated innovative research with the potential for making significant contributions to biological research over an extended period of time.
Immunologist Ming Li of Sloan-Kettering Institute has been selected as a Rita Allen Foundation Scholar. The award involves a grant of $100,000 a year for a period of up to three years.
