CLINICAL APPRENTICESHIP

Students are encouraged to develop a clinical perspective as to how bench work can be applied in the clinic. During the second year in the program and in consultation with the Dean and Thesis Committee, students select a Clinical Mentor from the attending staff of Memorial Hospital who is involved in patient care and patient-oriented research. The individual choice is guided by the student's thesis project. Students meet regularly with the Clinical Mentor for the duration of the student's program. The Clinical Mentor guides the student in hospital-based academic activities such as Grand Rounds, Pathology Conference, and Disease Management Team (DMT) Conferences.
